Art Wave has arrived in Isabella County! Art and cultural events throughout our county will be cross promoted by organizations in Midland, Saginaw and Bay City throughout the month of August and boy oh boy do we have a lot to promote!
In case you’re unaware, Art Wave is a cross marketing initiative created by the Arts and Entertainment Committee of the Great Lakes Bay Regional Alliance. The idea behind the initiative is to highlight the amazing talent that we have right here in our own region! We want YOU to choose to come to a local event this summer. In order to encourage your attendance, arts and cultural organizations agreed to promote events in their neighboring counties during specific months. August 2016 is Isabella Counties turn.
Highlighted August events in Mt. Pleasant include Movies by Moonlight, concerts at the Soaring Eagle (Don Henley and Darius Rucker), a Native Treaties: Shared Rights Exhibit at the Clarke Historical Library, a Frankenstein: Penetrating the Secrets of Nature exhibit and the Color, Texture & Design – Art of W.R. Horning exhibits in the CMU Park Library, a stadium performance at Kelly Shorts Stadium at CMU.
In addition, all the Art Walk Central events sponsored by Art Reach of Mid Michigan will be included: a Kids & Culture event at the Mt. Pleasant Discovery Museum, a painting the intersections event, an artist street studio, an Anishinabe Culture night, an outdoor free concert featuring the Ragbirds (part of the Max & Emily’s Summer Concert Series), sidewalk chalking, glass bead demonstration, children’s storytelling, kids art classes, an Art Battle, screen printing and a poetry slam.
So why not choose to stay local this August and come see what we have to offer right here in our own neighborhood. And better yet, visit a Bay City venue in September and a Saginaw venue in October. You’ll LOVE what you see!
