What’s the only thing better than playing 18? The joy of the 19th hole!

Good thing the Mt. Pleasant area has great spots to grab a drink and a bite to eat while recapping the glories of your round. Many golf courses in Central Michigan have restaurants right on site. And there are delicious bistros, breweries and bars off-course, too.

Take a look at these golfer favorites:

Best 19th Holes in the Mt. Pleasant Area

Each Golf Central Michigan destination has its own unique place for golfers to unwind at the end of the day, from the scenic Quarry Grill overlooking the island green on the 9th hole at Bucks Run to the wraparound patio at The Den by the 18th green at PohlCat. Whether you’re looking to relax with a cold beer at Tally’s Bar & Grill at The Pines at Lake Isabella or you want to catch the game on TV with your whole group in the 989 Bar & Grill at Riverwood Resort and Golf Course, you can find just the right vibe in the Mt. Pleasant area.

You’ll find that each course has its own signature food items, too, such as the Tullymore Burger in the Tap Room at Tullymore Golf Resort and the Pizza Putters or Mulligan Sticks at The Emerald. And you can’t go wrong with any of the dishes at St. Ives Grille such as the Chicago Beef Melt or with the Par-3 Club sandwich and other items at Fireside Grille at Maple Creek Golf Course.

In some cases, you can even turn your 19th hole into more friendly competition. Take your putter and a favorite beverage to the Bucks Run Putting Island for 18 holes of natural-grass mini golf, or try to top your golf score in the on-site 24-lane bowling center at Riverwood Resort.

Mt. Pleasant Restaurants That Love Golfers

Off the course, the Mt. Pleasant area is full of golfer-friendly places to eat including many restaurants and cafes with outdoor seating to make the most of warm spring days and long summer nights. For example, Mountain Town Station serves up award-winning ribs and handcrafted beer in a historic train depot with a patio right on the tracks along the Chippewa River. You also can eat and drink on the rooftop at Wood Shop Social gastropub, play cornhole at O’Kelly’s Sports Bar & Grille and scarf down legendary pizzas at Vin Trofeo’s or near the CMU campus at The Cabin, home of the world-famous Cabin Sticks.

Whatever food you’re in the mood for, in the Mt. Pleasant area it’s a short drive from the course or your hotel. For burgers and the best chili in town, head to Freddie’s Tavern. Pop into Los Palominos to quench your appetite for authentic Mexican food and margaritas. And for unique home-cooked Central Michigan flavors, visit The Barn Door in Shepherd where you’ll find delicious burgers, wings and tons of local craft beers. Following an afternoon on the links, couples might prefer an evening of intimate dining at Camille’s Prime or The Brass Café while Rubbles Bar is a hot spot for live music.

Must-Visit Breweries & Bars in Central Michigan

Golfers know that water holes are both scary and exciting. But watering holes? They’re the perfect place to laugh off whatever went wrong in your round and to toast everything that went right! Wherever you play golf in the Mt. Pleasant area, there’s a local bar or brewery nearby.

Summit Smokehouse, the home of Mountain Town Brewing, is just a few minutes from Riverwood Resort and right on the way back into town from courses on the west side of Mt. Pleasant including St. Ives, Tullymore and The Pines at Lake Isabella. Try the Train Wreck, an imperial amber brewed with maple syrup and honey.

On the east side of Mt. Pleasant, PohlCat and Bucks Run are both just 10 to 15 minutes from Hunter’s Ale House, with live music, lots of TVs and 24 inventive brews on tap ranging from the “What Would Jesus Brew Coffee Porter” to the “Hell of a Day IPA.” Hunter’s Ale House is also a great rendezvous point for coming into Mt. Pleasant on U.S. 127 after a round at The Emerald or Maple Creek. Pleasant Hills is just a couple minutes away, too.
