Downtown Mt. Pleasant boasts nearly 100 businesses lining the historic streets, including specialty shops, art galleries, eclectic dining, lively bars and bistros and picturesque parks. Here you’ll find big city amenities with small town service and charm.

Eat and Drink

Whether looking for a casual sandwich shop, an upscale dinner atmosphere, or even a martini bar, Mt. Pleasant has it covered! Stop by Stan’s Restaurant for omelets and homemade toast in the morning, or visit Ponder Coffee Co. for some ethically sourced specialty coffee. Afterwards for lunch, try a MacDaddy Dog from Dog Central, or sit on the charming patio at The Brass Café. In the evening, enjoy a cheeseburger pizza or calzone at Vin Trofeo’s Pizzeria & Pub, or stop by Mountain Town Station to sip on some locally made craft brew such as Cow Catcher Red Ale.

After chowing down on some scrumptious food, wonder our downtown area to find some unique local shops! Spend the afternoon at Trillium browsing high quality fashion, Vera Bradley and Estee Lauder cosmetics. Shop Michigan-made art, jewelry, stationary and so much more at Art Reach of Mid Michigan and For Arts Sake. Find your next read and browse items from Women-owned businesses at Sleepy Dog Books.

Relax and feel refreshed after a float pod or infrared sauna at Pure Vitality Juice Bar and Spa, or stroll through the city park trails that are connected by the Chippewa River. Walk, bike, or play a game of sand volleyball at Island Park, just steps away from downtown. Take a ride on Mt. Pleasant’s newest attraction, Twisted Mitten Tours pedal trolley, as it takes you on a tour throughout local downtown bars.

Downtown Mt. Pleasant is home to many annual events that take place throughout the year. Every August the downtown area gets transformed into a canvas for Art Walk Central, where artists travel from all over the region and battle it out for prizes. Also in the summertime, sample different beers, wines, meads and ciders at the Mt. Pleasant Craft Beer Festival. But the fun doesn’t stop once the weather cools down. Start the holiday season getting pampered and shopping at Ladies Day Out in November, and then in December catch flying pancakes, decorate cookies and watch the lighted Christmas Parade at the Mt. Pleasant Christmas Celebration.
