Opening this summer in Mt. Pleasant, local resident Lindsey Msibi is launching a new boutique to offer residents modern boho looks both in store and online.
“We’re channeling a very light and bright, airy feel,” says Msibi, owner of Cozy + Fresh Apparel & Home Decor Boutique. “We’re carrying a lot of boutique style clothing as well as home decor and items that could work for wedding or house warming gifts.”
Msibi has always had a passion for fashion, dreaming of one day opening her own business. She was originally considering the idea of starting an event venue, but the COVID-19 pandemic morphed her plans into fulfilling another dream of hers: owning her own boutique. Msibi also has past experience conducting custom styling projects, decorating client’s homes, offices, and businesses.
Cozy + Fresh is owner Lindsey Msibi’s first venture. It began in March 2021 as an Instagram account where she worked as a fashion stylist. Eventually, Msibi says the natural progression was to open a brick-and-mortar store.
“I would do home design projects and enjoyed doing that, but I felt like we needed an actual physical storefront,” says Msibi. “From this I decided I wanted to focus on boutique style clothing.”
With the help of friends and family, Msibi has been working towards a launch date since February. Her dream boutique is a family effort with the loving support of her husband, mother, and best friend. She says so far, it’s been a smooth process so far with wonderful people uplifting the business.
The clothing and decor in Cozy + Fresh is designed for adults, but Msibi wants to include items attractive to many age groups. Although infant and children’s clothing won’t be initially offered, if her customers show demand for a certain product Msibi is open to expanding her stock.
“We want to stay on-trend but also timeless so that anyone can feel free to shop here,” says Msibi. “We also have a range of sizes from XS to 3XL and I always try to order plus sizes when I can.”
Cozy + Fresh Boutique’s storefront, located at 3082 Jens Way in Mt. Pleasant, will be having a soft opening on June 24. It will be open throughout summer as Msibi continues to prepare the online retail opportunity, planning a grand opening for both near the end of summer.
“I would love to grow to the point of offering jobs to the local community and eventually grow across the state and country,” says Msibi. “I’m hoping our online boutique will also help us expand, especially with the help of social media and brand ambassadors. The sky’s the limit.”
