After its launch in 2018 as a food cart catering to downtown Mt. Pleasant, Ignite Donuts is expanding and next month it will be opening its first brick-and-mortar café.
Located at 2208 S. Mission St., the Ignite Donuts café will offer donuts, milkshakes, grilled cheese, and specialty coffees roasted by Live Oak Coffee Roasters in Midland. The majority of the menu includes a build-your-own option.
“We have updated some of our ingredients to make our donuts even better,” says Casey Croad, Founder and CEO of Ignite Donuts. “When people take a bite into the donuts that we will be selling at this café, it’s going to be out of this world.”
He says they plan to introduce seasonal items and in honor of its fall opening, the café will offer donut flavor options such as pumpkin spice, caramel macchiato, and maple bacon.
Another unique feature that customers may expect involves the specialty coffees. Instead of the usual method, adding flavored syrups such as vanilla or caramel, Croad says they’ve been experimenting with something different.
Casey Croad, Founder and CEO of Ignite Donuts, stands outside the new café located at 2208 S. Mission St. in Mt. Pleasant, Michigan.
“We actually use our donut glaze,” says Croad. “I don’t believe that’s ever been done by anyone else…From the farmers’ markets that we’ve been at, we’ve had really good, positive feedback where customers have told us it’s a unique flavor that they really appreciate.”
The café will have a comfortable, homey atmosphere with plenty of charging outlets perfect for students and remote workers. Croad says they are also working with local artist, Kloie Leslie, to create a donut-themed mural inside the café.
“We’re really excited to serve and love on this community and just get to know this community on a more personal level,” says Croad, who is supported by his business partners John Kulhavi and David Zick.
The café will be open Sunday through Wednesday from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. and Thursday through Saturday from 7 a.m. to midnight, though Croad says the hours are subject to change. The company is currently hiring and those that are interested in applying should visit ignitedonuts.com/community.
