Museum of Cultural and Natural History

The CMU Museum is a laboratory for Central Michigan University students in the Museum Studies undergraduate and Cultural Resource Management Masters/Certificate Programs. The Museum supports multiple allied university programs.

The Museum is located on the main floor of Rowe Hall on the corner of East Campus Drive and Bellows Street on the beautiful CMU campus in Mt. Pleasant, Michigan.

“Kozmic Clash: Peace, Love and Outer Space” explores the groundbreaking innovation and exploration of 1969, including an interactive Woodstock kiosk and the Apollo 11 moon landing. An interactive VW bus, a Vietnam War display, and information about local veterans and happenings of the time are also on exhibit. The museum is always free and open to the public, although we welcome donations you may want to make. Parking is free anywhere on campus after 4pm weekdays and all weekend long. Visitors  may obtain a free parking pass for Lot 14 ahead of time at https://www.cmich.edu/fas/police/Pages/Guest-Permit-Request.aspx, or they may also pick one up the day of their visit in Rowe Hall 103, the Museum administration offices.

“Feel the Music” offers fun, hands-on activities for all ages. Explore different types of instruments, aspects of music, dress up, and use technology to create your own musicThe museum is always free and open to the public, although we welcome donations you may want to make. Operating hours are Monday through Friday from 8:00am-5:00pm and Saturday from 1:00pm-5:00pm. The Museum is closed on Sundays, university holidays, and breaks. For more information, contact the museum at 989-774-3829 or cmuseum@cmich.edu. These temporary exhibits will be up through 2020.
