Photo #9: Winter Walks at Deerfield
Nothing beats exploring Deerfield Park during the winter months, and this photo submission by @ittybitty1974 shows just how beautiful the trails in Central Michigan can be, no matter the time of year.
Photo #8: “When Does Doozie’s Open?”
Each year as the weather gets warmer, there’s one matter all community members can agree on – the shared anticipation for Doozie’s Ice Cream Place to open! That’s why it was no surprise to find our 8th most liked photo was this post sharing the official opening date for the 2021 Doozie’s season.
Photo #7: Outdoor Dining All Year Long
With all the changes we’ve been presented with this past year, Mt. Pleasant residents were looking for a new way to dine safely while still supporting local businesses. Fortunately, many eateries started offering outdoor heated seating in early January! This photo definitely made us want to curl up by the fire and sip on our favorite drink from Ponder Coffee.
Photo #6: Riverside Hammock
With over 1,000 acres of parkland and 18 preserves, it’s no wonder the Mt. Pleasant area makes the perfect place to get in touch with your outdoorsy side. @tyler_elton took advantage of his beautiful surroundings and hammocked alongside the Chippewa River, landing him this spot as the 6th most liked photo of 2021!
Photo #5: Freshly Painted Intersection
When you think of Downtown Mt. Pleasant, what comes to mind? For us, it’s the brightly colored intersection, and this years’ fresh coat made our top 5! This annual event, hosted by Art Reach of Mid Michigan, brings community members together to paint 3 different intersections all down Broadway Street, and has become one of the most recognizable spots of Mt. Pleasant.
Photo #4: Orange You Glad It’s Fall in Mid Michigan?
Coming in at #4, this photo was our most liked submission from the 2021 #FeelsLikeFall Instagram Contest! For this contest, people were encouraged to snap a photo of what fall in Mt. Pleasant looks like to them. For @nidhs29, it looked like the breathtaking orange and yellow hues throughout Central Michigan University’s campus.
Photo #3: Pumpkins, Pumpkins… & More Pumpkins
Halloween in Mid Michigan wouldn’t be complete without a stop in Shepherd to see this jaw-dropping jack-o-lantern display! Dozens of community members come together every year to help carve over 1,000 pumpkins, which are then lit during the week leading up to Halloween. This event draws in visitors from all over the state of Michigan, so we weren’t surprised to see this photo make our top 3!
Photo #2: Snowflake Flurry
Remember us mentioning how awesome Deerfield Nature Park is during the winter… well @marissadunn_photography agrees! This shot was submitted to our #SnowDay2021 Instagram Contest, which had people sharing their snow-filled winter photos of Mt. Pleasant in 2021.
Photo #1: Chilly Chippewa
#SnowDay2021 strikes again! This time with a photo shared by @kristenelizabeth.photography. This beautiful shot showcases the mighty Chip on a cold winter’s day – we can almost feel that piercing water! Congratulations Kristen for having our most liked photo from 2021!
