Mount Pleasanthas done it again, another summer of outdoor movies!  This year the outdoor movies are not a force to be reckoned with. From blockbuster favorites to timeless classics the whole family can enjoy the movies featured in downtown Mt. Pleasant.
Movies by Moonlight will kick off on July 11th, following the Back to the Bricks Mt. Pleasant Car Show, with the feature film Frozen. In the kingdom of Arendelle Princess Elsa is to become Queen. But in a turn of events her magical abilities put the kingdom in an arctic tundra! It is up to her sister Anna, a mountain man named Kristoff, and a snowman named Olaf to show Elsa the beauty of her power and save the kingdom. Disney’s popular story has touched the hearts of fans all over the world and now it can be viewed for free next to City Hall!
The second film on the Movies by Moonlight line up will be on August 9th, following the ChalkART competition at Art Walk Central, is Despicable Me 2. Gru is back! Only this time he is balancing being a father and making an honest living in the jam business. When Anti-Villain League agent Lucy recruits Gru to help her catch a thief, Gru is thrown into an unexpected adventure fighting villains (including boyfriends) and finding love himself. Kids young and old flock to this gut busting comedy, and the minions are sure to entertain!
The final feature in the Movies by Moonlight Film Series is the classic musical Singin’ in the Rain. On August 16th everyone can enjoy this star studded cast, including Gene Kelly and Debbie Reynolds, give a performance to remember! Changes are made as a silent film company makes a difficult transition into sound. Chorus girl, Kathy Selden, is asked to voice over leading lady, Lina Lamont. A comedy filled with great singing, love triangles and more, the family will enjoy one of the most well known musicals of all time!
All outdoor movies will begin at dusk. Movies are played outside of City Hall at 320 W. Broadway on the grassy knoll. Bring your camping chairs, blankets and water bottles and enjoy a great movie outside!
