Event Details

It’s the longest day of the year! What better way to spend it than reading? We invite you to our 2nd annual Longest Day Reading Challenge at Veterans Memorial Library, where we will read ALL DAY LONG. We will host a public “read-in” in our outdoor green space where participants may drop in during daylight hours and silently read their choice of book for at least ten minutes or more. Readers may arrive and depart anytime between sunrise at 5:55 am and sunset at 9:12 pm. So, show up with a chair or a blanket, get comfortable, and start reading. All participants will receive a unique commemorative decal, bookmark, and a voucher for a free book at a future Friends of the Veterans Memorial Library book sale! In addition, we will have refreshments and a drawing for prizes while supplies last.

Take advantage of the opportunity to explore more books! Sleepy Dog Books will also be on-site with their new mobile bookstore.

If inclement weather should occur, the event will be moved indoors to the VML Annex Meeting Room.
