ABOUT THE ARTIST:
Boozhoo, Zhaawoshkobinesiikwe, mukwa ndodem, Bodewadmi Midekwe ndaw, Hannahville ndojibah.

My name is Kasey Perez (McCullough) and I am a seamstress based in Mount Pleasant. I learned how to sew from my aunties on my home reservation, the Hannahville Potawatomi Community when I was about 9 years old. I have been sewing since. I’ve been creating commissioned pieces for 6 years and have designed woodland fashion for businesswear to powwow regalia.
I love looking at pictures of our ancestors wearing all the beautiful florals and trying to recreate some of these pieces in a more contemporary lens.
In my “free time” I like to have movie night with my kids, travel to powwows, and sew!
Miigwetch!
