The beauty of traveling within the state of Michigan is the hundreds of different destinations that each offer a new adventure. But Mt. Pleasant is the best location for a golf-loving couple’s getaway weekend with plenty to do and see.

One of the things that Mt. Pleasant does right is their golf courses. So, if you and your significant other are looking for a way to spend a weekend playing endless rounds of golf and eating and drinking the best, this is the city for you.

Whether you’re a beginner just learning how to swing a driver or have years of experience and chasing your first hole-in-one, there’s a course waiting for you to give it a try.

This central Michigan golf oasis is home to 13 courses all within a half-hour drive of each other and offers a variety of course styles to choose from like championship links, “Up-north” and relaxed styles to fit whatever game you want to play.

“Mt. Pleasant gives the “up north” feeling without driving all the way north,” said Marissa Dunn, general manager at PohlCat. “It’s a nice, local course where you get that “up north” feeling but also get an amazing experience as far as the golf course and the conditions of the course.”

Need help starting to plan your green-filled weekend? Here’s a rundown of some of the courses located in Mt. Pleasant:

Buck’s Run

Sitting beautifully by Lake Fisher and Chippewa River, this award-winning 18-hole course offers a challenging but rewarding experience. The serene waterfront location of this Jerry Matthew’s designed fairway makes for a picture-perfect round of golf with your significant other.

Once you’ve finished your game and are looking for someplace to eat, the Quarry Grill’s casual, fine dining is sure to satisfy your needs. The restaurant overlooks Lake Fisher that feeds into the wooded-themed interior of the space.

This course also offers Play and Stay Packages found here.

Eagle Glen Golf Course

Shhh! Don’t let anyone else hear about this little piece of Scotland in Mid-Michigan. That’s right, Eagle Glen is the best kept secret with its bent grass tees, greens and fairways.

The layout of this course is unique because of its gigantic undulating greens and use of the area’s natural wetlands. It’s known throughout the state for its beautiful appearance and similarity to a course in Scotland, which was replicated in its design.

Pines at Lake Isabella

Newly renovated, this mature Mid-Michigan top golf course is a must play for beginners and experts alike. The course is laid out alongside Lake Isabella and courses through a dam that separates the lake from the Chippewa River – you can even stand on top of it!

Head over to Tally’s Bar and Grill after you’ve completed your game and sit back and relax with a meal and drinks overlooking Lake Isabella. This must-play destination is sure to make you want to come back just to look at the views again.

PohlCat

This well-manicured course is every lover’s paradise. Aside from the modern and classic style of the holes and the perfect natural setting, thanks to the Chippewa River, PohlCat offers plenty of couple’s events.

“We try to provide a unique experience for every set of golfers that come and play our couple’s events,” said Dunn. “It’s not only just golfing with amazing food and a great course. You’re going to have a unique experience that you wouldn’t get at any other course.”

One memorable event is their 9 & Dine event. This includes dinner, 9-holes of golf and a round of drinks. Some are themed so make sure you bring your pirate costume or linens for a night in Tuscany.  PohlCat also does events where couples are able to try four or five different cocktails with food, all while on the green.

Come and “stalk the cat” on this links style course!
